Pain is the bodies way of telling us something is wrong and knowing the cause is the first step to curing the pain. Only a trained professional can be certain your pain is not caused by a serious condition that would require medical attention.

Sometimes it can be our daily routine that is the cause of our pain. Things such as a sedentary lifestyle or prolonged sitting or standing in one place can cause these symptoms. If the muscles the sciatica nerve passes through become tight they can apply pressure to the nerve and cause pain. If this is you case a few simple changes can have great results and avoid the pain .

Simply getting up and walking a little bit from time to time may be enough to relieve the tension in your back and legs and remove the pressure from your sciatica nerve. Regular changes from stationary positions and moving around could go a long way to bringing relief. An excellent method of relieving this pain is simply taking a walk. Walking helps strengthen the muscles in the sciatic nerve area and helps avoid pressure on the nerve. Low impact walking is also a good exercise for many other issues we may have as well as sciatica pain.

There are many other simple exercises you can do that will stretch and strengthen the muscles in your lower back and legs that can really help relieve many sciatica symptoms. Most are easy to perform and do not take much time at all. A few minutes each day to stretch your back and legs is a small price to pay for the relief it can bring. Most exercises that stretch the hamstring and the piriformis muscles are very effective in bringing relief. Strengthening your core muscles can also prove effective in helping relieve sciatica symptoms.
