The Real Truth Behind Your Back Going Out

Our third myth to study is a grievance heard so often, that it is nearly comical. At some point, you have for sure heard someone you know complain that their Back Is Going Out. What precisely does that mean? Why are they complaining so much? What is really going on? It might feel that the back is going out, but in reality, that is almost never the case. Keep reading to find out the real reason behind the complaint that Your-Back-Goes-Out-More-Than-You-Do!

In reality, there are SEVEN different causes behind that agonizing, locked-up and stuck feeling that causes the body so much pain and makes us grouchy people. Some of the reasons will seem pretty obvious, while others are not.

Your back hurts so much for any one (or multiple) of these causes:

1. Low-grade spasm or twitching of the back muscles

2. Pelvis torque and tension, resulting in unnecessary twist

3. Imbalance of the hips, leading to a crooked spinal column

4. Fallen or dropped arches, yes, the arches in your feet can result in unnatural curve in the back

5. Stiff or misaligned vertebrae, causing difficult or painful movements

6. Adhesions in the leg muscles, which puts stress on your lower back

7. Pinched nerves, of whatever type, produce very specific pain

Each of these seven factors can leave you feeling as if your Back Has Gone Out, while the truth is totally different. Your spine and back as a whole are mostly in the same position, but a few small changes have been made ? small changes with significant and rather painful side effects!

That overwhelming back pain you are suffering from is not just a product of your spine or from your back muscles, but a combination of both. Consider this: If one of the primary muscles that does all of the work is partially spasmed, one of the secondary or second-stringer muscles must fulfill the requirements. Not only is this less than ideal, but it is quite a dangerous problem!

This back-up muscle is not designed or equipped to take on the work of the main muscle. The back-up muscle is not prepared to do the same quality work that the main muscle is asked to do, which causes poor posture, weakened support or just plain old crookedness in your spine. Because of all the extra tension and work, the second-stringer becomes fatigued and sore. When the second-stringer is too tired, the muscle gives up ? this is the point when you feel like your whole back has gone out!

Chiropractors focus on detecting the real cause of your back pain, as well as working to get rid of back pain by restoring spinal position and muscle ability. A chiropractor will know if a bone is out of place, even by a few millimeters, and will also be able to determine if a primary muscle is not doing the job the way it should, or if a back-up muscle is doing more work than it should. With that information in hand, the chiropractor can make the required adjustments and recommend the necessary exercises to help adjust what is wrong and keep your back from going out and hurting like it does.

Even better, your chiropractor can help fix the problems causing pain today to avoid those little problems turning into long-term issues such as spinal degeneration, disc herniations, disc bulging, bone spur growth, and osteoarthritis.
